Architecture SIP Wine and Beer bar earmarks the opening of the new terminal at San Diego International Airport. The bar features regional wines, local brews, and a substantial cocktail selection. Located at one end of the double-height passenger concourse in the new terminal, the SIP bar is marked by an illuminated, soaring geometric structure that rises as a beacon in the terminal’s spacious environment. The sculptural octagonal tower is accented by media screens and suspended planters, and clad in green perforated metal panels atop of the exposed steel beams for a futuristic ambiance. The bar’s appearance incorporates artisanal glazed tiles juxtaposed with wood panels and metal patina finishes, along with countertop planters that lend the space an unmistakable warmth. The end result is an abstract design while remaining fully functional. SIP WINE & BEER
